Observed white organic matter on some of the strawberries, raspberries, grapes, and watermelons that were in the display boxes to be sold to customers. PIC pulled the items to discard. See embargo form. Ensure all food shall be safe, unadulterated, and, as specified under § 3-601.12, honestly presented.

Black plastic bins containing bagged apples, watermelons, bagged avocados, and other fruits are soiled at the bottom of the container. Spoke with PIC and they stated that the containers will be pulled and washed, rinsed, and sanitized tonight. Ensure the bins are cleaned at a frequency to prevent the build up of organic residue.

Priority Foundation-6-501.111 (C), Pf: Controlling Pests; Approved Trapping Methods/Existence. Observed a large amount of fruit flies near the fruit produce area. Spoke with PIC about pest control service. Pest control technician was at the establishment on 2/7/2024 but fruit flies were not mentioned on the service receipt. A re-inspection will be conducted within 10 days to ensure there is no fruit fly activity. Ensure pest control is performed by a licensed technician.

Core violation is a minor violation that relates to general maintenance and sanitation.
e.g. -No sign reminding employees to wash hands
Verification Visits are inspections of establishments enrolled in the MCESD Cutting Edge Program, which requires an enhanced food safety program and ongoing demonstration of active managerial control.
