Inspection Comments

E&D, class 3, 0-9 OC inspection was conducted with the owners and architect, Ming C. The establishment is not open and operating and is remodeling (RM-08936). Permit is not approved pending the remodel. Reviewed stipulated items in the plan approval letter. Person in charge acknowledged the inspection rights. Please address the following items prior to the next inspection: 1. Provide required backflow preventers for equipment with direct water connection as discussed and listed on the stipulation letter. 2. The veneer brick wall finish in the permitted area must have several coats of marine grade sealant. Water has to bead up on the wall. 3. Provide side splash guard on the hand sink in the front service counter. Pitcher rinser is not permitted inside the hand sink. Please change order to not installing the pitcher rinser in the hand sink. Otherwise, an additional hand sink is required in this area if both sinks are dump/ rinse sinks. 4. Provide 3/8” radius cove base inside permitted area. This includes cabinet base. 5. Paint must be semi-gloss or high-gloss finish in permitted areas. Satin or any other paint finish is not acceptable. 6. Caulk and seal any gaps, cracks and penetrations that a business card can fit throughout the establishment. This includes at countertop substrate. 7. Paint several coats of semi-gloss or high-gloss paint on the countertop substrate. 8. Provide escutcheon plates around pipe penetrations. Ensure sealing around the pipe first. 9. Drainpipes from food related sinks, equipment, drain trays, or trough must be rigid and indirectly discharge to a floor sink with at least 1” air gap from the finished grade. No County legal action will result from this inspection. Emailed the report to the owner and architect. Please contact the Department at 602-506-6824 to schedule the next inspection. Currently, allow 14-21 business days to schedule. You are hereby notified that you are operating this establishment in violation of the MCEHC. Per Chapter 1, Regulation 4(a) “No person shall conduct an operation or operate an establishment for which a permit is required without holding the necessary and valid permit to do so, unless otherwise specified in this Environmental Health Code.” Please be advised that the New Business Permit Application fee includes one initial inspection and one follow-up inspection. Additional fees will be assessed for any additional follow-up plan review inspections.

Core violation is a minor violation that relates to general maintenance and sanitation.
e.g. -No sign reminding employees to wash hands
Verification Visits are inspections of establishments enrolled in the MCESD Cutting Edge Program, which requires an enhanced food safety program and ongoing demonstration of active managerial control. Verification Visit inspections found in compliance with Cutting Edge program requirements receive an “A” grade.
