Inspection Comments

E&D, class 2 10+ OC inspection was conducted with the owner and area manager. The establishment is open and operating. Permit is approved. Please address all items prior to the re-inspection: 1. Provide a NSF hand sink at the front food service area. Sink must have hot and cold water and side splash guards. 2. Provide a hose bib vacuum breaker at the mop sink’s faucet. 3. Provide 1” air gap from the finished floor for all drainpipe from 3-comp sink, drainpipes from equipment, dipper wells, drain trough, etc. 4. Provide stainless steel trim around the edge of the laminated countertop for the time being. Per area manager, the facility will have a major remodel within a year. Laminate countertop, shelving, dry storage and food prep areas are not acceptable. Replace with durable, smooth, non-absorbent and easily cleanable surface. 5. Provide an elbow at the drainpipe of the dipper well located at the south side of the facility. Ensure 1” air gap from the flood rim of the hub drain is provided. 6. Provide side splashguard on the left side of the hand sink in the ice cream cake decorating area. 7. Adjust the self-closer at the delivery door so it will close properly. 8. Replace acoustic ceiling tiles with washable ceiling tiles in the service area and restroom. 9. Rewrap the condensation pipe inside the walk-in freezer. 10. Replace dimmed/ burnt lights where needed. 11. Replace water damaged ceiling tiles in the dinning area. 12. Noted ice built up in the ice cream scooping freezers. Please defrost and clean the freezer prior to placing the ice cream tubs inside. 13. Caulk and seal all gaps, cracks, and penetrations that has the thickness of a business card throughout. 14. Provide door sweep and weather stripping at all exterior door. No County legal action will result from this inspection The inspection rights sheet is emailed with the report to the owner. Please contact the Department at 602-506-6824 to schedule the next inspection. Allow 7-15 business days to schedule. This establishment/operation has demonstrated sufficient compliance to proceed with the issuance of the permit. To complete the permitting process, issuance of this permit, and begin operation, the applicant must first submit payment of the annual operating permit fee to the Department’s Administrative Services. Fees paid up to this inspection approval do not include the annual operating permit fee. PAYMENT with a credit/debit card can be made via phone at 602-506-6824, Option 2. Per MCEHC Chapter I, Regs 4 & 5, no person shall conduct an operation or operate an establishment for which a permit is required without holding the necessary and valid permit to do so. Please note that if you select payment via online, the annual operating permit fee invoice may take up to 7 business days to post online. Also, checks and money orders are accepted via US Mail. If you select payment via US Mail, for further instructions please refer to the printed invoice. No operating permit is valid, until the permit fee is received by the Department. It is the responsibility of the permit holder/owner to notify MCESD if there are contact/ billing address changes. You are hereby notified that you are operating this establishment in violation of the MCEHC. Per Chapter 1, Regulation 4(a) “No person shall conduct an operation or operate an establishment for which a permit is required without holding the necessary and valid permit to do so, unless otherwise specified in this Environmental Health Code.” Please be advised that the New Business Permit Application fee includes one initial inspection and one follow-up inspection. Additional fees will be assessed for any additional follow-up plan review inspections.

Priority foundation violation is a minor violation that does not directly contribute to an increased risk of foodborne illness but failure to correct this violation may lead to the occurrence of a priority violation.
e.g.- Hand washing soap and paper towels not available at hand wash sink (may lead directly to food employees not properly washing hands when required)
Core violation is a minor violation that relates to general maintenance and sanitation.
e.g. -No sign reminding employees to wash hands
Verification Visits are inspections of establishments enrolled in the MCESD Cutting Edge Program, which requires an enhanced food safety program and ongoing demonstration of active managerial control. Verification Visit inspections found in compliance with Cutting Edge program requirements receive an “A” grade.
